Health Insurance for Churches and other Christian Organizations

Last week I wrote about health insurance for youth pastors. I wanted to share that I did already have a couple of people become interested. I also spoke personally with a youth pastor in Virginia.

The way that we can set this up is through a health reimbursement arrangement or H.R.A. Bascially it’s a way for churches and christian organizations to set the amount that they are willing to spend on health insurance, then the employee makes up the difference. It’s also tax deductible for the church or christian organization.

I know that this can be a great tool for churches as most find it hard to provide health insurance for employees because premiums are so high. However, this is a great way for them to do something and it helps out great workers like youth pastors and other staff.
